2. Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar

With rich fertile land and multidimensional bondage among the people, Punjab is also famous for its historical heritage and one of the examples is The Jallianwala Bagh. It is a public garden in Amritsar near the holy place Golden temple.

The reason for this place to be of utmost importance is because of the huge massacre that took place in 1919. On 13th April 1919, Brigadier General Dyer along with huge amount of military troops ordered to shoot at the crowd that had gathered in the Jallianwala Bagh for celebrating Baisakhi, the main Sikh festival.

Almost 1,100 civilians without any weapons, women, and children were killed. Many civilians were also prey to severe injuries. The memorial is built in the honor of those innocent people who lost their lives here.

3. The Rock Garden, Chandigarh

Who could have ever imagined a garden with beautiful sculptures made from scrap and beautiful interlinked waterfalls? But it’s true. The most popular attraction in the happening city of Punjab – Chandigarh is The Rock Garden, the ultimate epitome of creativity.

The garden is the hard work of Nek Chand, a government official who secretly began working in the garden in his spare time. He collected the materials from demolition sites around the city, recycled them and carved this beautiful garden. His work was illegal but he somehow managed to hide it for 18 long years. However, when his work grew beyond 12-acres, it was in danger of being demolished, but he was able to get public support and managed to grow it up to 40-acres. 

One of the most beautiful parts of this garden are the cascading waterfalls and many other sculptures made from the scraps like bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots etc.

4. The Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Chandigarh

One of the most popular attractions in Chandigarh, The Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is a botanical garden spread over 30 acres of land with approximate of 50,000 rose bushes and that also of 1600 different species. The uniqueness of this garden lies in its name.

This botanical garden gets its name after India’s former president Zakir Hussain. The main attraction of this place is the Rose Festival, a cultural event held in Chandigarh almost every year during the month of February and March.

5. Virasat-e-Khalsa, Chandigarh

The most ancient holy town of Punjab, Anandpur near Chandigarh is where the museum of Sikhism Virasat-e-Khalsa is located. This place gives insight into all the events and affairs that took place over more than 500 years ago.

Every year this museum celebrates its 500 years of Sikh history and the 300th anniversary of the birth of Khalsa. The scriptures of the birth of Khalsa were written by the last and tenth human guru, Guru Gobind Singh. 6. Wagah Border ceremony, Wagah
